Darria Onry (Yung Praise), born on Nov 21, 1990, grew up in the challenging neighborhoods of Memphis like “RivaCide” and “DHG,” known for their rough urban landscapes. Growing up with a mother who had to frequently relocate to keep him and his sister safe instilled in him the understanding that there is more to life than being trapped in a relentless cycle. Emerging from this background with a calling on his life, he believes that God has a plan and purpose for his gifts, intended to resonate nationwide within the Christian Hip-Hop and Gospel communities.
Yung Praise's journey wasn’t a straight path; he faced adversity, including a 2-5 year sentence in prison. During this period, he allowed God to equip him with the qualities necessary for maintaining a ministry of entertainment that witnesses to those touched by his music and speeches. He began this ministry while incarcerated, uplifting fellow inmates, guards, and counselors with his message.
With a full-throttle approach, he engages in speaking, teaching, rapping, and entertaining audiences nationwide, delivering the good news of Christ through his music. His mission centers on reaching the lost, connecting with youth in their environments, and providing them with a clear path forward, all while performing in various secular locations and events, presenting an UNCUT gospel.
